Life with a Lame Dog

No, I am not bashing my dog. Benji is lame. I knew my luck had run out. About a month ago we had to have his ACL (a ligament in the knee you old broad) repaired. I knew when he came up limping it was not good. He had a partial rupture. I have spent the last four weeks working, going to the vet, and fetching for the dog.

I prayed, I had friends pray, I bought glucosamine and chondroitin, and not a bit of it worked. We had to go to the orthopedic doggie surgeon and have a repair. If it wasn't my baby going through it, I would be very impressed with his care.

My dog got better care than many people do. I took home a bound folder of pictures and instructions. I also brought home a lame dog.

For four weeks, I have lifted my 67 pound boxer on and off of the bed. We have massaged the leg. We use ice packs. And still he limps. It is pitiful and it is breaking me down. The doc said it will take 3 month to heal. I feel so bad for him. He wants to get out and run. I of course cannot let him. So I buy squeaky toys for him. It does not work. He wants to play.

They had to shave his leg. Because that is what you do when you have surgery. What I don't understand is the square patch of bare skin on the butt. I don't get it but that's okay. He is going to be okay.

However, one should not fear that I have forgotten that one Broad.
